Application of technical ceramics in solar energy

Technical ceramics, also known as advanced ceramics, fine ceramics, new ceramics or high-performance ceramics, are a new generation of ceramic materials sintered with refined high-purity, ultra-fine artificially synthesized inorganic compounds as raw materials and using a precisely controlled preparation process. 1. Ceramic copper clad laminates in photovoltaic inverters

 
Photovoltaic inverters are the core components of photovoltaic power generation systems, and ceramic copper clad laminates play an important role in photovoltaic inverters. Ceramic copper clad laminates are mainly used for the packaging of IGBT (insulated gate bipolar transistor) modules. IGBT is the core device of photovoltaic inverters and plays a decisive role in the material cost, failure rate and power conversion efficiency of inverters. Ceramic copper clad laminates have the characteristics of high thermal conductivity, good heat dissipation performance, high insulation and stability. They can work stably in harsh environments such as high and low temperatures outdoors, and improve the service life of photovoltaic systems.
 

2. Ceramic materials in solar thermal power generation systems

 
Absorber materials: In tower solar thermal power generation systems, absorbers are core devices that need to withstand extremely high radiation intensity and high temperatures. Ceramic materials, such as alumina ceramics, zirconia ceramics and silicon carbide ceramics, are used as absorber materials because of their excellent properties such as high temperature resistance, high strength and corrosion resistance. Among them, silicon carbide ceramics have better high-temperature performance, which can enable the absorber to obtain a higher outlet air temperature.
 
Heat storage materials: Ceramic heat storage materials, such as alumina, zirconia, silicon nitride, silicon carbide and aluminum nitride, have the advantages of a wide range of raw material sources and corrosion resistance. Through reasonable design, heat storage ceramics that meet the performance requirements of high-temperature heat storage materials for solar thermal power generation can be prepared. The high-temperature resistance of these ceramic materials enables them to have higher heat storage temperatures and a wider heat storage temperature range.
 

3. Ceramic materials in solar collectors

 
Black porcelain composite ceramic solar panels are a representative type of solar collectors. The absorber material is ordinary ceramic without whiteness requirements, and the coating material is vanadium titanium black porcelain. This type of solar panel has the advantages of low cost, long service life, and stable performance. At the same time, ceramic materials have the characteristics of antifreeze, anti-aging, and anti-corrosion, which makes this solar collector have incomparable advantages over traditional types.
 

4. Other applications

 
In addition to the above applications, technical ceramics also play an important role in the manufacturing process of solar cells. For example, molten alumina ceramic crucibles are containers for the production of polycrystalline silicon ingots, which are the most consumed consumables in the production process of polycrystalline silicon except for polycrystalline silicon raw materials.
 
In addition, with the deepening of research and the continuous advancement of technology, the application of ceramic materials such as alumina passivation films in solar cells has also received widespread attention.
