Finishing of Surface Finish of Alumina Ceramics

In order to improve the accuracy of the products, most alumina ceramic materials need further finishing after the completion of the sintering process, so as to achieve a higher surface finish.

In order to improve the accuracy of the products, most alumina ceramic materials need further finishing after the completion of the sintering process, so as to achieve a higher surface finish.

But alumina ceramic is not an ordinary material after all, how to finish it better?

Because the hardness of alumina ceramic material is relatively good, it is necessary to use harder grinding and polishing brick materials for finishing, such as SIC, B4C or diamond, etc., and in the process of finishing, it is necessary to improve the lubricity of alumina ceramic surface in advance.

In the finishing of alumina ceramic materials, the more commonly used way is to grind the alumina ceramics step by step from coarse to fine abrasives, and then polish the surface. When polishing, you can choose less than 1μm Al203 micro powder or diamond paste for grinding and polishing. Of course, laser processing and ultrasonic processing can also achieve the purpose of grinding and polishing alumina ceramics.

The above is the finishing treatment to improve the surface finish of alumina ceramics, and then to enhance the mechanical strength of alumina ceramics, that is, alumina ceramic strengthening technology.

In fact, alumina ceramics are toughened by advanced processes such as electron ray vacuum coating, sputtering vacuum coating, or chemical vapor evaporation on the surface of alumina ceramics.

These methods can deposit a layer of silicon compound film on the surface of alumina ceramics, and the alumina ceramics can be toughened only by heating at 1200 ℃ ~ 1580 ℃.

It is proved that the mechanical strength of the strengthened alumina ceramics can be greatly increased on the basis of the original, and the alumina ceramics with ultra-high-strength can be obtained.
